Begin looking into industrial ladders and you’ll quickly realize how complicated this seemingly simple piece of industrial access equipment can get. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has numerous regulations governing many different types of ladders, including fixed metal industrial ladders. These rules cover load-bearing capabilities, clearance measurements, side rails, rungs, platforms, landings, and safety features such as cages.
At Southern Metal Fabricators we’ll use our 25+ years of experience to help you navigate these regulations and design industrial ladders that perfectly meet the needs of your facility while remaining OSHA compliant.
Depending on the status of the initial engineering drawings, we have fabricated industrial ladders for clients in as little as 2–3 weeks. We’re happy to work with customer-supplied drawings, although we frequently provide design and engineering services for caged and fixed ladders. Wherever you are in the process, we can accommodate practically any type of file, from a fully fleshed-out AutoCad design to an old-fashioned, hand-drawn sketch with a few measurements.
After double-checking the design specifications, we cut the metal using our state-of-the-art production saws, plasma shears, and laser cutters, then form the metal and weld the various industrial ladder components together. In some cases, such as when we work in aluminum, the metal can be left unfinished; if not, we’ll apply a custom finish in our full-service finishing shop.
Once the various parts are complete, we fully assemble a ladder and our quality control experts review the welds and components. Once the industrial ladder passes inspection, we often ship it fully-assembled, reducing hassle for our customers.
